Relationship Counselling

Talking Therapy for Relationship Issues

Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of joy in our lives, but they can also be one of the greatest causes of pain.

Difficulties in relationships can leave you feeling hurt, confused, lonely or questioning yourself and your own worth. You might be struggling with a partner, family member or friendship, going through the end of a relationship, or finding that relationships don't seem to work out in the way you would like them to.

Sometimes you may notice the same difficulties appearing again and again. Perhaps you find it hard to trust people, worry that someone is going to leave, need reassurance but then feel guilty for asking for it, avoid conflict, put other people's needs before your own or find it difficult to set boundaries.

Our reactions in relationships aren't always only about what is happening in the present. The relationships and experiences we've had throughout our lives can shape what we come to expect from other people and how we see ourselves within relationships. Sometimes even a small change in someone's behaviour or tone of voice can bring up feelings that seem much bigger than the situation itself.

As an integrative counsellor with a Person-Centred foundation, I offer a warm and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your relationships without being told what you should do. I'm not there to decide whether you should stay, leave, forgive someone or make a particular choice. Instead, we can explore what is happening for you and what you want and need.

Together, we might become curious about patterns that keep showing up, where they may have come from and how past experiences could be affecting your relationships now. We can also explore boundaries, trust, communication and the way you feel about yourself in relationships.

Sometimes counselling isn't about finding a quick answer or deciding who is “right” or “wrong”. It can be about having somewhere to untangle what you're feeling, understand yourself more deeply and begin to recognise what is important to you.

Whether you're dealing with difficulties in a relationship now, trying to make sense of one that has ended, or wondering why the same patterns seem to keep repeating, counselling can give you the space to explore it without judgement.

What Clients Say

I’ve had the privilege of having 18 counselling sessions with Alice, and I honestly can’t recommend her highly enough. I connected with Alice from our very first session, she created such a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where I felt completely comfortable opening up.
