Meet Alice – Counsellor in St Neots

Hi, I’m Alice. I’m a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the BACP (MBACP), based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

I know that choosing a counsellor can feel quite personal. Qualifications and experience matter, of course, but so does finding someone you feel comfortable talking to and someone you feel you can genuinely be yourself with.

I’m naturally warm, down-to-earth and approachable, and that’s very much how I am in the counselling room too. I’m not a counsellor who sits silently behind a clipboard or expects you to know exactly what you want to talk about. I’ll listen, I’ll be curious, I’ll notice things with you and, when it feels helpful, I’ll gently explore or reflect something back.

There’s room for all of you in our sessions. You can laugh, cry, swear, change your mind, go off on a tangent or tell me that something I’ve said doesn’t quite fit. You don’t have to perform therapy or try to be the “perfect” client.

For me, counselling isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about having the time and space to understand yourself more deeply — where certain feelings, patterns or ways of coping may have come from, what you need now, and what feels right for you moving forward.

Most importantly, I want you to feel that when you come to counselling with me, you can just be you.

How I Work

My core approach is Person-Centred, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. I’m not here to tell you what you should do or to assume that I know what is best for you. Instead, we’ll make sense of things together, giving you the space to understand yourself, your feelings and what you need.

I work integratively, which simply means I can draw on different therapeutic approaches rather than working in one set way. Depending on what feels helpful for you, we might look at how past experiences are affecting you now, notice patterns that seem to keep showing up in your life or relationships, or pay attention to what you’re experiencing in the here and now.

Sometimes our sessions might involve talking something through; at other times we might slow things down and sit with a feeling, look at something from a different perspective or find practical ways to help you feel more grounded when things feel overwhelming.

There’s no set formula and no expectation that you come to each session knowing what you want to talk about. Our work together will develop at your pace and be shaped around you, your experiences and what feels most useful along the way.

What You Can Expect From Me

You can expect me to meet you with warmth, honesty and without judgement. I’ll listen carefully to what you bring, but I’ll also be present and engaged with you. I might notice something you’ve said, reflect something back or gently ask a question that helps you look at things from a different perspective.

There’s no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready, and you don’t need to fill every silence or arrive with something prepared to talk about. Some sessions may feel emotional, others might involve laughter, and sometimes you might not quite know what you’re feeling yet. All of that is welcome.

While talking is often at the heart of counselling, I know that some experiences can be difficult to put into words. Where it feels helpful, we can use creative ways of exploring what is going on for you. I have a background in art, so creativity is something I’m comfortable bringing into the room, but there is never any expectation for you to work creatively.

I offer face-to-face sessions from my private counselling room in Eaton Socon, St Neots, as well as online counselling. If you’re wondering whether we might be a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call so we can have a chat before you decide whether you’d like to book a session.

Client Testimonial

Thank you for your kind words and for all that you have done in helping me over the last few months, quite a journey! The space your offered was truly special and I will be forever grateful, my little Monday sanctuary where I was allowed to be all of me without judgement, to be vulnerable, share my biggest fears, to walk through my pain and experiences and more recently the space to share and celebrate little wins. You offered a safe space, reflection and guidance that was always shared authentically with compassion and kindness. I do feel that I have grown as a human since we first sat down together and the foundations have been firmly set for a happier and brighter future for myself and my little man.
